TENTACLE #1

STUDY LIKE A SQUID

Trial And Error Learning (Exercises, Assessments And Tests)

A Squid makes us ask ourselves what aspects of our mind can we expect to be universal whenever the topic of intelligence arises, and what are unique to just us.

They are actually able to count, solve problems, recognize patterns, and communicate through a number of signals. Though colorblind, they are also able to instantly change colors, using different colors on their upper and lower bodies to blend into different backgrounds and attract potential mates or avoid enemies.

The Squid is also often said to be a great example of the importance of a theoretical movement in psychology known as ’embodied cognition’. One of its central ideas is that our body, rather than our brain, is responsible for some of the “smartness” with which we navigate our world. The joints and angles of our limbs, for example, make motions such as walking, arise naturally, devoid of our brain.

We could go on and on but we’re sure you get the point. Squid are fascinating creatures that use every inch of their body to maximum effect!

At Squid Academy we have studied lots of material about how these highly intelligent mollusks learn throughout their lifespan and have applied these tactics to our teaching methodologies. Combining visuals, voice and assessments to activate your axons and help you remember and apply all the valuable content we have created.

Of course, we are also still learning and improving every day. Much like the Squid we adapt and persevere & so should you!

TRIAL AND ERROR LEARNING (EXERCISES, ASSESSMENTS, ASSESSMENTS & TESTS)

Why the Octagonal Squid Method for success?

The only time most of us think about this strange-looking sea creature is when it is served grilled, fried or basted in its own ink.

But the lowly squid is actually an intelligent invertebrate capable of learning complex behavior.

A new study reveals that new-born squid actually learn through the process of trial and error and that these early-life experiences can physically change a squid’s nervous system in ways that may be permanent.

The brain of a squid quickly develops the ability to bypass the giant axons in favour of a parallel nerve network made up of small axons — narrower neurons that control a different set of muscles in the mantle.

What is an axon? Each neuron in your brain has one long cable that snakes away from the main part of the cell. This cable, several times thinner than a human hair, is called an axon, and it is where electrical impulses from the neuron travel away to be received by other neurons.

A squid is able to regulate the force of its escape jet by simply activating the small axons first, then firing the giant axon network a fraction of a second later.

But is this ability to suppress the giant axon network is NOT genetically programmed but instead learned through experience.

How does this apply to you?

Through the process of trial-and-error, a squid learns that the best way to capture certain pray is not to chase it but to remain still, spread its eight tentacles like a net, then quickly grab the it and bite into it.

This suggests that the process of learning by trial-and-error causes actual physical changes.

Experiments revealed that a critical time period exists when the effects of learned experience are beneficial.

This body of work also strongly supports the idea that a rich sensory environment is important for normal brain development in humans.

The delectable calamari actually help unlock the secret of how our own brain cells are modified by experiences and help explain why we are who we are.

THIS IS WHY YOU WANT A CAREER IN ESPORTS (NUMBERS DON'T LIE)

Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, the Danish Dota 2 veteran  became the top earner in all of esports in 2019 after leading OG to victory at The International for the second year in a row. N0tail’s net worth in 2020: $6.9 million – dotesports/clutchpoints

Based on the latest survey of Esportsearnings.com, pro gamers earn between $1,000 to $5,000 per month. The highest paid professional gamers earn up to $15,000 apart from the money they get from their other activities like sponsors and prize money. – careergamers

In 2020, the global esports market was valued at just over 950 million U.S. dollars. According to Statista, global esports market revenue will reach almost 1.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. – Statista

Sam Hartman-Kenzler, better known as ‘Kobe’, is a League of Legends shoutcaster and former player. His estimated net worth in 2020 was between $1-3 million.

According to a report done by SimplyHired.com, the upper level esports shoutcasters earn around $70k/year on average. The best ones can rack up 6 figures fairly easily.

Esports coaches are in the same boat as casters, salary-wise. They can earn anywhere between $20,000 and $120,000, depending on experience and skill. However the national average sits at around $63k as per report by ZipRecruiter.com

Jakob ‘YamatoCannon’ Mebdi is a former League of Legends player and current coach of Fnatic. His estimated net worth is between $1-3 million.

Though this profession wasn’t quite established in esports just a few years back, nowadays it is very lucrative. Take Tyler1 as an example – He was signed by SK Telecom T1 as the official esports streamer for the team. Tyler1 makes almost 7 figures per year from content creation, streaming, sponsorships, as well as receiving a salary from SKT Telecom T1. (Source – clutchpoints.com)

Content creation is an important job in esports and as such can be paid handsomely. Even average content creators can make good money ($50k average per year – source is glassdoor.com) and this job is highly sought after in today’s industry.

Astralis is one of the biggest powerhouses in CSGO. They have consistently achieved success and risen to the top quickly. The team was rebranded from ‘Team QuestionMark’ to ‘Astralis’ in 2016 and from then, a glorious story of triumph emerged. Up until today, Astralis has earned more than $8.5 million from prize winnings alone.

There are no concrete numbers for team owners and how much they earn, but it’s safe to say that with sponsors, prize money, deals, marketing, merchandise sales, and more, esports organizations can rack up anywhere between six figures and a few million.

Though esports event managers aren’t the talking point of professional esports, they are still instrumental in maintaining the ebb and flow of esports events. According to several job postings found online, esports event managers can expect to earn between $23k – $110k per year.

Esports event managers are highly sought after due to the increasing number of esports events around the world.

Streamers can arguably earn the most out of all esports professions, but reaching the top is exceptionally difficult. Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel makes nearly $2 million yearly – just from streaming.

Expert streamers that are popular can make around $4k a month + additional income from sponsorships and ad revenue which makes esports streaming an attractive career option for esports enthusiasts.
