A Squid makes us ask ourselves what aspects of our mind can we expect to be universal whenever the topic of intelligence arises, and what are unique to just us.
They are actually able to count, solve problems, recognize patterns, and communicate through a number of signals. Though colorblind, they are also able to instantly change colors, using different colors on their upper and lower bodies to blend into different backgrounds and attract potential mates or avoid enemies.
The Squid is also often said to be a great example of the importance of a theoretical movement in psychology known as ’embodied cognition’. One of its central ideas is that our body, rather than our brain, is responsible for some of the “smartness” with which we navigate our world. The joints and angles of our limbs, for example, make motions such as walking, arise naturally, devoid of our brain.
We could go on and on but we’re sure you get the point. Squid are fascinating creatures that use every inch of their body to maximum effect!
At Squid Academy we have studied lots of material about how these highly intelligent mollusks learn throughout their lifespan and have applied these tactics to our teaching methodologies. Combining visuals, voice and assessments to activate your axons and help you remember and apply all the valuable content we have created.
Of course, we are also still learning and improving every day. Much like the Squid we adapt and persevere & so should you!
